A leather bound first edition of an epic poem titled "The Emerald Isle; A Poem" by Charles Phillips (1786-1859), a celebrated writer and lawyer, with an engraved frontispiece depicting a full length portrait of Brian, the last High King of Ireland, and over 150 pages of text. Bound in its original gilt-tooled full calf binding with marbleized endpapers. Internally fine, tight bindindg with minor foxing. Spine shows wear as illustrated in photos. Lovely tribute to Ireland. Published 1812 by J.J. Stockdale, London.
