The Yolla Bolly Press was founded by James and Carolyn Robertson in the 1980's and was located in Round Valley, Mendocino county, 4 hours north of San Francisco. They were self-described "Publishers of Modern Literature in Fine Press Limited Editions". James Robertson died in 2001 and the press ceased publishing shortly thereafter. The present quarto sized work, formed the basis for John Steinbeck's screenplay "Viva Zapata, the man the myth, and the Mexican Revolution" and is titled Zapata: a narrative, in dramatic form, of the life of Emiliano Zapata by Steinbeck with woodcuts by artist Karin Wikstrom. The edition was limited to 257 copies of which this in number 251. The volume is contained in a slipcase of archival board covered in buckram and signed by the artist. The book is bound in handmade Japanese paper over boards with burgundy buckram spine and corners. The endpapers are Mexican bark. In very fine, almost new condition.
