The Quadrupeds of North America complete in 3 volumes by John James Audubon and John Bachman published by Victor Gifford Audubon1854.The set retains 153 of the 155 colored plates originally issued. Royal octavo edition with its original embossed full leather binding. This set of Audubon's lovely final work was completed posthumously by the efforts of his sons, John Woodhouse Audubon and Victor Gifford Audubon. Condition: Volume One: Front and rear boards detached but present. Volume Two: Front and rear boards reattached with acid free tape. Volume three: Boards remain intact. The set lacks 2 of the original 155 images: plate number 86, the ocelot and plate number 116 the American black or silver fox. All other plates present are in generally very good condition with expected toning and in few cases light foxing. Pages with some foxing. A remarkable work that was years in the making.
