PERSONAL MEMOIRS OF U.S.GRANT TWO VOLUMES PUBLISHED: NEW YORK 1886 FIRST EDITION

$975.00

The memoirs of U.S. Grant is widely considered to be one of the greatest autobiographies ever written by an American president. The present copy was published in New York by Charles L. Webster & Company in 1886. The 2 volume set is replete with numerous maps and illustrations particularly regarding the civil war years. Grant was a great writer and beautifully described everything from his childhood to his role as leader of the Union army during the civil war. Grant wrote this important work while gravely ill in order to leave money to support his soon to be widow. He died shortly after its publication.
