An extraordinary pair of very large scale Japanese Imari large vessels traditionally decorated in strips of Imari colors, reds and blues, with chrysanthemums and other floral accents punctuating borders with gilded scalloped rims. The interiors are extensively and similarly decorated and further accented with a large central flower. Signed on the bottom with an unidentified cipher. Now resting on contemporary wooden stands. These remarkable bowls came from the estate of a prominent San Francisco physician. Wooden stands measure 2 inches in height making overall height 11 inches. Twentieth century.
