A finely bound edition of Rudyard Kipling's famous work The Jungle Book, finely bound in full polished red calf by the esteemed binder Bayntun-Riviere of Bath, U.K., all pages gilt, hand marbled endpapers, the spine with six raised bands decorated with floral gilt rolls. The 6 compartments are fully decorated and double ruled in gilt including 2 with tigers and 2 with wolf heads. Front and back covers are finished with a large detailed gilt decorated wolf (front) and a similarly rendered tiger (verso). The book itself, with illustrations by J. Lockwood Kipling and W.H. Drake, was printed in 1967 by Macmillan. A truly elegant volume and example of fine English bookbinding.
