FINE REGENCY GILTWOOD MIRROR WITH CARVED EAGLE CRESTING AND LION'S MASK BOSSES

A fine quality English Regency period mirror, the replaced mirror plate surmounted by a beautifully carved eagle with spread wings and a downward gaze atop a demilune cresting centered with an ebonized lion mask. The eagle holds a delicate swag chain in its mouth set with gilt balls. The cornice is further decorated with gilt acorn drop finials and classical leaf decorated urns. The eagle rests on a stylized bed of black rocks. The replaced mirror plate is set between fluted columns headed by small ebonized lion's mask corner bosses. Circa 1810.
