A handsome set of the works of Alexander Pope (1688-1744) the famous English satirist and poet. Pope suffered various health issues throughout his life but with a fierce spirit and work ethic managed to produce a large volume of significant work. The volumes appear to retain their original full calf bindings and contain Pope's most famous works including The Rape of the Lock. Published in London by A. Millar, J. and R. Tonson, H. Lintot and C. Bathust in 1757. Each volume contains various illustrations pertinent to the work. With raised spines and gilt lettering, this is a very attractive set of 18th century literature by an important British personality.
